If I forget my user name and password, how can I retrieve it?

How do I Order courses? Signing up for online training is easy. Go to homepage: http://www.policeontheweb.com. Use the 4th link on the left side of the page called: Order Texas Courses. Choose from the list of courses. You will be asked to provide credit card information and student registration information. Your order will be processed promptly and a confirmation email will be sent containing login and course instructions. If needed, there is also another link to pay with an agency purchase order.
What if I need to abort or quit a test if I am not finished with it? A test can be aborted in progress. By hovering your mouse in the upper right corner of your screen, a red box will appear. Click on the statement "Or Click Here to Abort the Test". (see below)
Can your courses be easily accessed with any browser? The best browser for viewing our courses is Internet Explore. Unfortunately Fire Fox has problems as well as using Internet Explore from inside of AOL.
If I forget my user name and password, how can I retrieve it? You can e-mail drharland@aol.com or call us 800-828-4915 to retrieve it. Or you can just remember the below structure to retain it.
User name: (First & Last name initials plus last 5 numbers of your SS#.)
Password: (Last 4 numbers of your SS# only)
If a course hour credit says 24 hours, does that mean I must spend 24 hours on the computer for that course? No, 24 hours is the credit TCLEOSE awards that course. Our courses are at your own pace. You may log on and out as you need 24/7. Some students will take longer and some may take a shorter time.
How many and what courses are required for the peace officer intermediate courses? There are eleven of them. CBSI has them all except for CIT (Crisis Intervention) and Human Trafficking #3270. We are awaiting Human Trafficking review from TCLEOSE and hope to have it oline soon.
What course are Constables and their deputies required to take every 4 years? Civil Process #3131.
What mandated topics are credited in the New First Line Supervisor course besides just 40 hours? New Supervisor #3737, Special Investigative Topics #3232 and Cultural Diversity.
Is the Spanish #2110 course the same course required for dispatchers and jailers for an intermediate certificate? No, but it (Spanish #2110) will meet the requirement for the intermediate for all of them.
Is Complete Texas Law #1018 and Texas Supp PO #1018 the same course? Yes, but Texas Officers are NOT required to take the Complete Texas Law #1018, however out of state, federal, and military officers ARE mandated to take the Texas Supp PO #1018 course in order to receive a letter of endorsement from TCLEOSE to come take the State Peace Officer Exam for Texas.
Are #3232 Special Investigative Topics and #3939 Cultural Diversity courses still required for Peace Officers every 4 years? Yes, until you receive your Intermediate level certificate.
What courses require me to use Loaner Texts from CBSI and can I take the course if I already own one of the Text Books? Officer Survival I, Officer Survial II, and Officer Survival III, Basic Police K-9 Science, Complete Crime Scene Investigation #3200, and Cognitive Interviewing Skills #3200 all require loaner text books from CBSI. Students who have their own text books for these courses can purchase the course with a $20.00 discount.
Does CBSI offer the Intermediate course Interpersonal Communications in a Jail Setting for Jailers? No, it must be taught from a classroom setting due to “hands on instruction and demonstration”. However we do offer the Jailer courses Spanish #2110, Inmate Rights #3502, Use of Force in Jail #3504 and Suicide in Jails #3501, which are all Jailer Intermediate courses.
How many hours of training are required every 2 years for Peace Officers? 40 hrs. The course requirements are viewable from the link on the left hand side of our home page “ Texas Mandated Training”.
How soon do I receive a certificate when I complete one of CBSI's courses and how do I receive it? If you complete your course before 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, your certificate will be emailed to your later the same evening. If it is after 5:00 pm it will be emailed the next business day evening. For Texas Officers the TCLEOSE credit is electronically uploaded to TCLEOSE the same evening the certicate is generated.
If I lose or misplace a certificate, can I get another one from CBSI? Yes, we keep records for 5 years, so if you know the name of the course and the year you completed we can check our electronic data base and forward you a duplicate certificate.
Is there a time limit on the courses I take from CBSI? Yes, you need to complete the courses within 1 year. If you do not complete the courses within one year they will expire and you will need to re-purchase the course.
Is there a time limit on taking exams or for the final exam online? No, however you cannot walk away from the exam for more than 15 minutes or it may time out on you and tie up that exam. (message you will get when this happens is “test in progress”). You will need to either call us to have it reset or send an email requesting we reset it.
How long does CBSI keep it's training records on students? We are mandated as a Training Provider to keep records for a 5 year period.
Do you report training or have a training agreement with other State POST's or Law Enforcement commissions? No, we do not report to other state posts, however we will send you a certificate and you can check with your State Commission or POST and request they review it for training credit in that state.
What Training Credentials does CBSI have for providing your training? We have been a TCLEOSE approved Contract Training Provider for our courses since 1888. TCLEOSE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards & Education) reviews our training company every 5 years for renewal.
Do you ever provide any classroom training for officers or agencies? No, we are a distance education facility only. We review and produce soft core mandated training to assist agencies and officer's an alternative to obtain those courses without the travel expense and costs for attending a class room setting.
How many chances do I have to take exams? You may have 3 attempts to pass in a course. A total of 3 failures (including lesson exams) will flunk you out of the course. The courses that are exempt from failures are prep courses for a final exam and include: Complete Tex Law Review #1018, Texas Supp PO #1018, Civil Process #3131, and Spanish #2110 (exercises only) (the Spanish #2110 final exam 3 failures only.)

An instructor and/or administrator are available Mon-Saturday from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm by phone 800-828-4915 or e-mail drharland@aol.com. If you get a recording it means we are on the phone with a student and you may try again approx 5 minutes later or leave a message on the recording with your name, brief message and best contact telephone number.
