Telecommunications Certificate Chart


BASIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS CERTIFICATE (Rule 221.13(a))  
Applicant must meet all proficiency requirements:
1)  Successful completion of course 1013;
2)  Successful completion of department field training course 3720; (required if hired after 6-1-2004)
3)  One year of experience in public safety telecommunications.

INTERMEDIATE TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE  (5160) (Rule 221.13(b))
Applicant must meet all proficiency requirements:
1)  Two years of experience;
2)  120 training hours of training; and

If applicant received the basic telecommunicator certificate/acknowledgement on or after January 1, 2000, all of the following courses must  be completed:

1)  Cultural Diversity 3939;
2)  Ethics for Law Enforcement 3920 or 3925;
3)  Crisis Communications 2120;
4)  Successful completion of TCIC/NCIC 3802; TLETS/NLETS 3809 or 3811, or Criminal Law 3100;
5)  Spanish for Law Enforcement Course 2109 or 2110.

ADVANCED TELECOMMUNICTIONS PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE  (5170) (Rule 221.013(c))
Applicant must meet all proficiency requirements:
1)  Four years of experience;
2)  240 training hours.
